Tips to Ensure You Have a Grand Time at Your Next Family Reunion

Every few years families gather together in a neutral location to reconnect, bond, and spend quality time. While getting together with loved ones may have always been something you enjoyed, as you age, you realize just how important family support really is. You want nothing more than to be able to really enjoy your time with loved ones whether it’s just for the day or a week. To ensure you have a marvelous time, here are some family reunion travel tips to keep in mind.

Reach Out to the Coordinator

The moment you receive notice from relatives that there will be a family reunion you want to reach out to the coordinator. This is important so you can bring forth any ideas, concerns, or questions you may have about the upcoming event. If you have certain mobility issues, health conditions, or dietary considerations that need to be considered during the planning stages be sure to provide this information in advance.

Reserve Your Travel Accommodations

Now that you have an idea of what, when, and where the family reunion is going to be holding it’s best to reserve your travel accommodations. This is particularly true if the reunion is going to be somewhere popular. Look for hotels near the reunion site. You can ask other relatives where they’re staying as you may be able to get group discounts or save on a room by sleeping with one of them.

Decide on how you’ll get to and around at the family reunion destination. If it’s further away, obviously, you’ll need to make arrangements to fly. However, if it’s at a nearby location, perhaps you could drive yourself or carpool with another relative who lives near you.

Pay a Visit to Your Doctor

As you already know, the body doesn’t always work as well as you’d like it to as you get older. So, before leaving for your family reunion, it’s a good idea to check in with your doctor. Let them know where you’ll be going, how you’ll be traveling, and the types of activities you intend to participate in just to get the all-clear. This is also a good time to have any prescriptions filled in the event that you’re going to be away from home for a few days.

Get Packing

Now that you’ve made your travel plans and got the go-ahead from your doctor you’re ready to start packing for your family reunion trip. There are a few things you’re going to want to take with you even if you only plan on going for a day or two. Of course, you’ll want to make sure you have enough clothes and shoes for the trip. Don’t forget to preorder your Bella + Canvas 3001CVC Unisex Heather CVC T‑Shirt with the family name and logo on it.

You should also remember to pack your medications, supplements, undergarments, sun protection, cosmetics, and other toiletries. It’s also a good idea to pack a few sources of entertainment for the trip there and back (and for the downtime). You can bring along a good book, some board games, or yarn and needles for knitting and crocheting. Try as best you can to get everything into one bag to make it easier on yourself during the commute.

It’s not often that you get to see generations of loved ones all in the same place enjoying each other’s company. So, why not go and enjoy these experiences for yourself? The love and support of those closest to you will not only put a smile on your face but can enhance your overall well-being. After you’ve completed the things on the above-mentioned list you are all packed and ready to go and experience the fun, excitement, and love that comes from being with family.
