Retire and Volunteer, Nonprofit List, List of Charities
(Alphabetized List of Phone Numbers)
Perhaps you are interested in volunteering for a charity or non-profit, but don't know where to start. A list of contact information and Web addresses is provided below to help you.
Volunteering is rewarding. It makes you feel like you are accomplishing something—that you are giving back —that you are helping people. Volunteering also gives you the opportunity to meet people, make new friends and get out of the house. You can volunteer a day or two a week or in some cases even a few hours a day. Of course there are some seniors that volunteer every day and many who volunteer weeks or even months at a time.According to N Morrow-Howell, J Hinterlong , PA Rozario and F.Tang."Older adults who volunteer and who engage in more hours of volunteering report higher levels of well-being."
Work and Volunteer if You Like Animals. Volunteer at the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab, Utah. When you’re not walking a dug, grooming a horse or mending a fence you can take a trip to nearby Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park and the Grand Canyon is only a 90 minute drive.
There is no charge to volunteer and Best Friends has cabins and cottages priced from $60 to $140 a night. There are also many nearby hotels and resorts that offer a discount to volunteers at Best Friends. Click here for more information

Clinical Trials
Usually sponsors of clinical trials pay most of the costs but not always. Make sure to check and remember that your insurer is still responsible for medical coverage that is not directly related to the clinical trial. Be aware that some insurance companies refuse to pay for certain claims for a patient enrolled in a clinical trial. Check this out before starting any program.
Clinical Trials: Why Volunteer for Clinical Trials of Medical Treatments?
The Food and Drug Administration, or FDA, is part of the U.S. government. It is the FDA’s job to make sure medical treatments are safe and effective for people to use. By taking part in a clinical trial, you can try a new treatment that may or may not be better than those already available. You can also contribute to better understanding of how the treatment.
